ADDIS ABABA, Dec 14 (SEE)- The new project manager of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) Kifle Horo said on Friday that the project completion requires an additional 4 years.
According to the Ethiopian News Agency, the construction works were delayed as a result of a change in design, resulting in a capacity increase and a delay in electromechanical works.
Horo made these remarks during a conference over the GERD project in Addis Ababa.
He explained that the project is ongoing without interruption, noting that the construction of the dam requires $ 4.8 million.
The dam, which is expected to generate 6.45 gigawatts, is the largest hydropower station in Africa and the seventh largest in the world.
