Emam Ashour shined as Zamalek earned a convincing 3-0 victory over Tala’a El-Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League’s Sixth round on Saturday.

The White Knights headed into the game without key players in Ferjani Sassi and Mostafa Mohamed, who is reportedly close to leaving the club in January.

However, they got off to a good start to the game and managed to break the deadlock in the 17th minute of the game.

Hazem Emam dashed on the right-hand side and delivered a fine cross that was met by a bullet header from Youssef Obama to give Zamalek the early lead.

In the 48th minute, Ashour stepped up and fired a rocket from long range that hit the post and went to double his side’s advantage.

Ashour was on the scene again as he extended Zamalek’s lead in the 71st minute after a sublime combination play with Ahmed Sayed Zizo.

Zizo’s back-heel pass found Ashour in a pocket of space as he curled it into the far corner to complete his brace and secure the win for Zamalek.

Following their victory, Zamalek are now level on points with Al Ahly (13) at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table.
