Elon Musk, once celebrated as a trailblazing entrepreneur and the world’s richest man, is facing a noticeable decline in popularity according to a new poll conducted by the Associated Press and the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago.

The survey revealed that only 33 percent of American adults currently view Musk favorably, down from 41 percent recorded in December 2024.

The findings suggest growing public unease over Musk’s perceived influence on the United States government.

The poll highlighted that nearly two-thirds of respondents believe Musk has exerted excessive influence over federal affairs in recent months. This sentiment has intensified as Musk assumed a more active role within former President Donald Trump's administration earlier this year.

Musk’s rapid rise in the business and technology sectors had long been marked by his disregard for critics and his relentless pursuit of innovation.

However, his increased political involvement appears to have reshaped public perception, leading to skepticism about his intentions and the extent of his authority.

Despite concerns, Musk's influence may soon diminish. Reports suggest that he is expected to step down from his administrative role in the coming weeks, a move that could potentially ease tensions surrounding his involvement in governmental matters.
