Hossam El Badry, Egypt's national team manager, asked Mohamed Barakat to book tickets to England because he seeks to watch how his national players are performing abroad. El Badry contacted all the national teams, foreign players, in order to conduct a meeting with them and attend some of their matches.

Egypt currently has three players in the Premier League- Mohamed Salah who plays at Liverpool in addition to Mahmoud Trezeguet and Ahmed El-Mohammady who play in the ranks of Aston Villa. Ahmed Hegazy, Egypt's strong defender, however, currently plays in the "Championship" which is England's second-ranked league.

El Badry is currently having a rough start with the Pharaohs as he was barely able to win in the Liberia and Botswana friendlies, forcing a clean goal in each match. Egypt drew against Kenya and Comoros in the African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Neither Salah nor Mohammady was able to make the startup during El Badry's short tenure which started last April after the Egyptian Federation sacked Agierri due to his disappointing performance in the 2019 African Cup of Nations held in Egypt.
