Pharaohs' new head coach Hossam El-Badry has called up five foreign-based players for the Egyptian national team's first camp under the helm of the Egyptian tactician.
El Badry named Liverpool's star Mohamed Salah, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet (Aston Villa), Mohamed El Neny (Besiktas), Ahmed Hassan Koka ( Braga), and Ahmed Hegazy( West Bromwich) for the seven-time African champions' upcoming camp in October.
On its part, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) contacted other federations to provide some friendlies for the national team, as the Pharaohs are preparing for their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The seven-time African champions are set to kick off their adventure against Kenya on Monday, November 11 in Egypt.
On Thursday, September 19, El-Badry was named as the new head coach to succeed Javier Aguirre, who was sacked by the former EFA board of directors following the Pharaohs’ exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after they suffered a shocking defeat by South Africa 0-1 at Cairo Stadium.
EFA's board of directors, headed by Amr El Ganainy, held on Saturday a meeting with the Pharaohs’ new head coach Hossam El-Badry to discuss his technical staff.
The EFA asked the former Al Ahly head coach, during the meeting, to present his suggestion, concerning the formation of his technical staff within two days.
