El-Ahly started off their African Champions League campaign with an easy win over Sudan's Etlaa Bara, decimating the less than mediocre team with 4 cleans goals as they wasted lots of chances.

Both teams met in Alexandria stadium even though Etlaa Bara is a Sudanese club, but based on their own wishes the match was played in Egypt. Both teams will meet again on August 24th and the return leg will also take place in Egypt.

El-Ahly opened the scoring in the 16th minute through a penalty won by Amr Solaya after he was tackled inside the box, with Ali Maaloul proceeding to score the penalty. Walid Azzaro enforced El-Ahly's lead in the 36th minute, making good use of a mistake in the penalty area.

Azzaro enforced El-Ahly's lead early on in the second half through a swift header.

Ahmed El-Sheikh then added El-Ahly's fourth and final goal after playing with the Sudanese defense beautifully placing it into goal.
