Egypt’s Supply Min. Discusses with World Bank Enhancing Social Protection

Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade discussed with a mission from the World Bank ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of social protection and food policies, within the framework of the ministry's efforts to support food security and improve social protection networks in Egypt in line with sustainable development plans.

Farouk pointed out that this meeting comes within the framework of strengthening the role of social protection programs in supporting many segments of society.

Farouk explained the importance of having effective social protection policies and the importance of accurately assessing their impact before implementing them, in order to ensure the greatest efficiency and justice.

The participants also reviewed the analysis of price incentives carried out by the Basira Center, and stressed that this cooperation aims to support Egypt's efforts in improving the efficiency of support programs, and ensuring that resources are directed to those who deserve them, in a way that contributes to enhancing social justice and raising the standard of living of citizens.

The World Bank praised the efforts of the Minister of Supply, describing cooperation with the ministry as a role model in the region.

He added that the Ministry of Supply's commitment to the development of social protection networks reflects a strategic vision aimed at achieving food security and social justice.

The meeting concluded by stressing the importance of strengthening technical cooperation with the World Bank and benefiting from the development of food security and social protection policies in Egypt.
