Recent official data revealed that Egypt's exports of ready-made clothing increased by 19% during the period from January to the end of May of this year.
The head of the Readymade Garment Export Council Marie-Louis said that exports of the clothing sector amounted to about $1.08 billion during the period from January to May 2024, compared to about $912 million, year-on-year, an increase of 19%.
Data indicate an increase in clothing exports by 25% to European Union countries. The European Union countries are the second largest market for Egyptian ready-made garments, receiving $254 million in the period from January to May 2024.
According to a statement, exports of ready-made clothing increased by 10% to the United States of America to record $444 million. While clothing exports to Arab countries achieved $217 million, a growth rate of 38%.
Egyptian exports of clothing to Saudi Arabia increased by 74% to reach $64 million.
Meantime, the Clothing Export Council expects exports to reach $3 billion by the end of 2024.
