Egypt’s National Railway Authority operated today its ninth special train under the voluntary repatriation initiative for Sudanese citizens returning to their homeland.

The train, numbered 1940, departed from Platform 8 at Cairo’s Ramses Station at 11:00 a.m., bound for Aswan’s High Dam Station. Onboard were 940 Sudanese nationals, mostly families, who expressed deep gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his supportive stance toward Sudan’s unity and stability.

Passengers also praised the Egyptian authorities for their care, organization, and hospitality throughout the repatriation process, reflecting the strong bonds of brotherhood between the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples.

Acting on the directives of Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, the railway authority ensured that all essential services and facilities were provided to guarantee passengers a dignified and smooth journey.

With this latest service, Egyptian railways have transported a total of approximately 8,608 Sudanese citizens across nine trains since the initiative began, averaging 940 passengers per trip. The current train is scheduled to arrive at Aswan’s High Dam Station at around 11:10 p.m. tonight, after which relevant authorities will complete the necessary arrangements for the passengers’ onward travel into Sudan.

The same train, re-designated as service number 1945, will return from Aswan to Cairo on Saturday, August 30, at 8:30 p.m., reaching Ramses Station at 9:25 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, to resume service for the general public.

Egypt’s National Railway Authority reaffirmed its commitment to providing all necessary assistance for Sudanese citizens traveling under this program, an initiative that underscores the historic, humanitarian, and deeply rooted ties between Egypt and Sudan.
