Egypt's Prosecution Orders Detention of 23 Workers over Toukh Train Derailment

The Egyptian general prosecution ordered on Tuesday the detention of 23 workers over the deadly Tukh train accident that took place last Sunday.

In addition, General Prosecutor Hamada Al Sawy ordered arresting of the train driver, his assistant, and other staff members.

Several railway technicians, engineers, and workers are also among the detained persons.

The workers are accused of wrongful death due to negligence, breaking several laws and orders, and causing damage to a state-owned vehicle.

It is worthy to mention that the accident left behind a huge number of casualties including 23 deaths, and 139 injured.

The second in a month, the accident took place last Sunday, when four carriages were separated from a running train near Toukh city on its way from Cairo.
