Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty is set to visit Türkiye on February 4 for a diplomatic meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara.

The visit marks another step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the two nations and deepen cooperation on regional issues.

Discussions are expected to cover a broad spectrum of topics, including bilateral trade, economic investment, and regional developments in Gaza, Syria, Libya, and Africa. Both sides aim to explore ways to enhance economic collaboration and promote stability in the region.

The visit comes as Türkiye and Egypt continue their efforts to reinforce diplomatic and economic relations. In recent years, both countries have prioritized expanding trade, boosting investments, and increasing cooperation in key sectors such as education, culture, and tourism.

The upcoming discussions will build upon these initiatives, with a focus on fostering long-term engagement between institutions and businesses.

The meeting will also set the stage for future high-level diplomatic engagements, particularly as Türkiye and Egypt prepare for the next High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) meeting in 2026. Strengthening institutional partnerships and ensuring sustained diplomatic dialogue remain central to their shared vision for cooperation.

The renewed momentum in Türkiye-Egypt relations is particularly significant as the two countries approach the 100th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2025.

Over the past year, both sides have demonstrated a strong political will to enhance their partnership, as reflected in recent high-profile visits.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s trip to Cairo on February 14, 2024, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi’s visit to Ankara on September 4, 2024, have reaffirmed commitments to deeper cooperation across multiple sectors.

The first HLSCC meeting during Sissi’s visit set the groundwork for expanding collaboration.

Moreover, Erdoğan and Sissi met for the third time in 2024 on December 19 in Cairo, during Egypt’s D-8 Summit presidency, where they reviewed progress in bilateral relations and discussed key regional issues.

These engagements underscore the shared commitment to fostering a stable and prosperous relationship between Türkiye and Egypt.
