Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres in New York during the 78th United Nations General Assembly meetings.
They discussed the latest developments in the African Sahel region, as well as the situations in Libya, Sudan, and Syria.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid, Shoukry emphasized the importance of the UN's role in finding solutions to the region's crises and urged for its backing and strengthening.
The discussions also included climate change, sustainable development, and the process of reforming the international multilateral action system.
Abu Zeid further mentioned that the UN chief praised Egypt's diplomatic leadership in various international multilateral forums, especially the United Nations.
