The Egyptian film "Abeed" won the "Best Film" prize at Al Ain Film Festival's (AFF) "Esnaa' Filmak Fi Zaman El Corona" (Make Your Film in Corona Time) competition on Wednesday.
The film's scriptwriter Noha Said expressed her pleasure after winning the prize revealing that she expected positive feedback from the jury and audience due to its humanitarian message.
Regarding the film's story, it revolves around "Abeed" who suffers from cleft lip and faces harsh bullying. Then, he feels safer after wearing facial masks amid the outbreak of COVID-19.
According to Said, the film sheds the light more on the psychological aspects of the character and its complexes in dealing with the outside world.
The film is directed by Medhat Abdallah and starring a number of Arab stars such as Omar Abu El Fadl, Mohamed Kamal, Ohod El Newies, and others.
The third annual AFF took place between 23-27 January and it witnessed the participation of 378.
