As part of Egypt's cultural outreach, the renowned Tanoura Heritage Troupe recently represented the country at the Mediterranean Festival in Cyprus. Organized by Egypt's Ministry of Culture under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno, Minister of Culture, and Mohamed Nasif, Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, the troupe's performance brought a vibrant display of Egyptian folklore to the international stage.

Led by artist Mohamed Salah, the troupe performed the mesmerizing Tanoura dance, a traditional Egyptian spinning dance rooted in Sufi heritage. Accompanied by the distinctive sounds of traditional instruments such as the Upper Egyptian mizmar, drums, cymbals, and rababa, the performance captivated the audience with its blend of rhythmic movement and colorful costumes.

The festival drew large crowds, with attendees including the Egyptian Ambassador to Cyprus, the city’s Governor, and the Mayor. In addition to the stage performances, an energetic street parade showcased participants from various countries, including Egypt, Cyprus, France, Italy, Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Lebanon. The audience responded enthusiastically, adding to the festive atmosphere in the streets of Cyprus.

The Egyptian troupe's participation was organized by the Central Administration for Artistic Affairs, led by Tamer Abdel Moneim, and the General Directorate of Festivals, headed by Eman Hamdy. The Mediterranean Festival continues until September 16th.

Since its establishment in 1988, the Tanoura Heritage Troupe has gained global recognition for its performances in festivals across the world, including the United States, France, Norway, Italy, and India. Most recently, the troupe performed at the "Viva Venezuela" festival in Caracas and Egypt’s Alamein and International Festival of Drums.
