Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, received Dr. Ali Youssef Al-Sharif, Sudan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Sunday for consultations on bilateral relations and to review the latest developments in Sudan.
Tamim Khallaf, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Foreign Minister emphasized the deep historical ties and strong fraternal bonds between the two countries.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s solidarity with the Sudanese people during this critical period and its commitment to making every effort to restore stability and peace in Sudan. This support aligns with Egypt’s full backing of Sudan and its national institutions, while also stressing Egypt’s position on respecting Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, in addition to enhancing humanitarian response efforts.
The meeting included discussions on efforts to ensure Sudan’s reinstatement in the African Union, as well as Egypt’s active involvement in various regional and international initiatives aimed at supporting Sudan.
Khallaf concluded his statement by highlighting that the discussions also covered water security.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and coordination to safeguard the vital interests of their peoples, given their shared destiny as downstream Nile Basin countries.
