Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty, Egyptian received on Sunday a phone call from his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khalaf stated that the two ministers discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, particularly in political, economic, and investment domains.
They reviewed updates on joint development projects, including the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant.
Both ministers emphasized the importance of intensifying political consultations at the ministerial level, in line with the directives of the Egyptian and Russian presidents during the BRICS summit in Kazan.
On regional matters, the ministers exchanged views on the Syrian situation, agreeing on the need to support the Syrian state, respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and enhance coordination among key players to aid Syria during the transitional phase.
They underscored the importance of adopting an inclusive, Syrian-led political process that restores stability, secures the country's future, and preserves the interests of all segments of the Syrian population.
The discussions also touched on the latest developments in Gaza.
In this regard, Abdel Atty outlined Egypt's intensive efforts to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire, allowing humanitarian aid to flow into the region.
