Egyptian Researchers Developed New Breed of Chicken That Gives Eggs Abundantly, Resist Disease

A team of Egyptian researchers at the Faculty of Agriculture, Benha University succeeded in developing a new breed of chicken called "Banha Chicken" in relation to the university.

The new strain is characterized by abundant egg production and resistance to ailments.

Dr. Mahmoud El-Atrouni, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Agriculture at Benha University, said that the development of this type of poultry came as a result of 11 full years of experiments.

He added that the experiments began in 2007, and the research team tried to search for a better breed than the one in the Egyptian market, so the choice was made between two strains, the first producing eggs in a large way, and the second being resistant to diseases and changes.

He explained that 3 generations and three different colors of chickens were reached, explaining that after reaching mixing a plan for genetic improvement was developed, indicating that it was reached that one chicken lays between 230 to 250 eggs.

And he talked about how this type of chicken is affordable for everyone and does not exceed the price of regular chicken.
