The Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza has rescued two young brothers who became a symbol of resilience after images of them walking alone along Al-Rashid Road went viral on social media.

The older child had woken up in northern Gaza to find no one around him. Refusing to abandon his sibling, he carried his younger brother in his arms and began walking south, through bombed-out streets and under constant threat of shelling. Their desperate journey, captured by witnesses, highlighted the human toll of the ongoing conflict.

Their mother, who survived the bombardment, never stopped searching. Thanks to the intervention of the Egyptian Relief Committee, she was finally reunited with her sons. “I looked everywhere for my children until I found them,” she said. “My eldest carried his brother and kept walking despite the shelling. I thank President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for caring about my children and our family.”

Committee members said they acted on presidential directives to locate the children, and after an extensive search, they were able to find them and bring them to safety. The boys and their family are now housed together in an Egyptian-run relief camp, where they have received food, clothing, and shelter.
