Egyptian Museum to Display Music in Ancient Egypt Depicting Antiquities on W. Music Day

The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir will display a 22-artifact collection that depicts music in Ancient Egypt on World Music Day.

Ancient Egyptians gave huge care for music, and it played a significant role in the religious and national occasions in Ancient Egypt including festivals and celebrations, according to Sabah Abdel Razik, the director of the museum. In addition, there were music instructors and teachers, Abdel Razik added.

She highlighted that the goddess Hathor named as the lady of music. Furthermore, various antiquities related to music in Ancient Egypt were unearthed through ages such as scenes that depicted music performances, and instruments.

Abdel Razik revealed that one of the artifacts is a wooden model depicting a musical ensemble. Moreover, a collection of flutes, drums, and debris of drums from leather will be exhibited. Various statues for players while performing by harps, and flutes will be displayed.

She asserted that the oldest instruments in Ancient Egypt were cymbals, bells, drums, and dufs (traditional drums).
