As part of his farewell meetings with Russian officials, Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow, Nazih El-Nagari, met on Monday with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Vershinin.
The meeting addressed avenues of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Russia across various fields and ways to further enhance them.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the crisis in the Gaza Strip.
In this regard, they emphasized the urgent need to reach a ceasefire, end Israel’s aggression against the enclave that has persisted for nearly two years, and prepare for political efforts aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state in line with international law.
The discussions further touched upon the situation in Syria, with the Egyptian Ambassador underscoring Russia’s significant role in the Arab region and the Middle East, in light of its historical and ongoing support for Arab rights.
The two officials also reviewed the latest developments surrounding the Ukraine crisis following the Alaska Summit.
