Egypt’s national carrier, EgyptAir, announced on Friday the suspension of all flights to and from Aswan and Abu Simbel airports until weather conditions improve, citing safety concerns caused by poor visibility.
In a statement, the airline said the decision was taken in light of deteriorating weather conditions affecting both cities, which have led to reduced visibility and disruptions to air navigation. The suspension, EgyptAir added, is aimed at maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and ensuring the security of passengers.
The flag carrier emphasized that the move is a precautionary measure resulting from exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, stressing that flight safety remains its top priority across all operational activities.
The airline noted that its Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC) is closely monitoring developments around the clock, in continuous coordination with Aswan and Abu Simbel stations and relevant authorities, to assess the situation and resume operations as soon as conditions allow.
EgyptAir advised passengers to stay informed about their flight status through the company’s official channels, including sales offices, the customer service center, and the airline’s website, to receive real-time updates.
