Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel Aaty, held talks on Friday with Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and coordinating positions on issues of mutual interest.

According to the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Abdel Aaty underscored the depth and strength of relations between Egypt and Zimbabwe, describing them as rooted in longstanding ties and shared interests. He expressed Egypt’s aspiration to convene meetings of the joint committee between the two countries in the coming period, viewing it as a key mechanism for advancing cooperation across various sectors.

The Egyptian foreign minister highlighted the importance of boosting investment cooperation and expanding bilateral trade, pointing to the promising opportunities and untapped potential available in both markets. He stressed the need to intensify economic and commercial engagement in a manner that aligns with Zimbabwe’s government action plan and development priorities.

Abdel Aaty also called for the organization of a bilateral business forum aimed at promoting investments in sectors where Egypt has accumulated significant expertise. These include construction and infrastructure development, electricity and renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, cotton and textiles, as well as agricultural and food processing industries. Such cooperation, he noted, would contribute directly to the implementation of Zimbabwe’s national development strategies.

The discussions reflected a shared commitment to elevating Egypt-Zimbabwe relations to a more strategic level, reinforcing South-South cooperation and supporting sustainable development efforts on the African continent.
