Egypt’s national fishing team claimed the title at the 3rd Arab Open Fishing Championship, held in the Jordanian city of Aqaba from September 5 to 8, with nine teams from five countries — Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen, and Egypt — competing.
The Egyptian team secured the top spot after achieving the highest total weight of fish caught. The squad included Captain Alaa El-Taher, Mohamed El-Bosaily, Mohamed Ragab, and Mohamed Gamal, under the leadership of delegation head Ahmed Ragab, a board member of the Egyptian Fishing Federation.
Ragab said the victory reflects the federation’s vision of consistent participation in Arab and international tournaments, aiming to establish Egyptian anglers among the elite regionally and globally.
The team had also competed in the World Championship in Paris in late August, as part of the federation’s efforts to strengthen Egypt’s presence on the international stage and highlight the skills of its anglers
