Egypt has welcomed the announcement on Saturday, 10 May 2025, of a ceasefire and de-escalation agreement between India and Pakistan, following successful mediation efforts by the United States.

In an official statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the development as a significant step toward calming tensions and reinforcing security and stability across South Asia.

Cairo expressed hope that both sides would adhere to the ceasefire and use the opportunity to rebuild mutual trust, advance peace, and fulfil the aspirations of the Indian and Pakistani peoples for prosperity and development.

Egypt also reiterated its firm support for peaceful resolutions to international crises, affirming that dialogue and negotiation remain the only path to settling disputes.

The statement concluded by expressing Egypt’s hope that the ceasefire agreement will contribute to global peace and security—including in the Middle East—and called on the United States to intensify its efforts toward securing a ceasefire in Gaza and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
