The Egyptian company Benya Capital signed a joint cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Communications in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the aim of establishing a communications network at a cost of $ 500 million, confirming Egypt's leadership in the communications and information technology sector.
The terms of the agreement were signed during the opening session of the 24th Cairo ICT Exhibition by Augustine Kibassa Maliba, Congo's Minister of Telecommunications and Communication Technology, and Ahmed Mekky, Chairman and CEO of Benya.
The project will digitally connect cities across the Democratic Republic of the Congo, improving access to high-quality, high-speed network services across the African nation at low cost.
The partnership between Egypt and Congo will be implemented in two phases, the first of which will see the implementation of the network, while the second phase will cover operations, provision of digital services.

As the largest optical fiber manufacturer in the region, Benya will provide the cables through its plant, in partnership with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) and the leading manufacturer of optical fibers "Corning International".
Mekky added that the company intends to benefit from Egypt's experience and transfer its knowledge to support the information and communication technology infrastructure in African countries, in addition to projects and services for digital transformation.
It is worth noting that the 24th Cairo Information and Communication Technology Exhibition kicked off on November 22nd at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC), in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, under the slogan "The Big Reset", and it will be held until Nov. 25.
On the sidelines of Cairo ICT 2020, several events were held, including the PAFIX Conference and Exhibition for Financial Technology and Digital Inclusion. The conference is held under the auspices of the Central Bank of Egypt, and discusses issues related to financial inclusion and security of digital payments.
The sixth session of the DSS Conference and Exhibition of Public Safety and Security will be held during the the exhibition. An innovation arena will be established for the fifth year in a row to allow the largest possible number of entrepreneurs and innovators to present their projects.
