Dr. Muhammad Ali Fahim, head of the Climate Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation, warned of soaring temperatures across the country starting Wednesday.

The severe weather will affect all regions for 10 days and coincides with the beginning of the second week of the Abib month, which is held between July 8 and August 6 of the Gregorian calendar.

It is also the third month of the Season of Shemu (Harvest) in ancient Egypt, where the Egyptians harvest their crops throughout the land.

Fahim predicted that the temperature would exceed 42°C in the north and 45°C in the south and explained an Indian monsoon low-pressure system is triggering the severe conditions in Egypt.

He added it is also a major reason that Egypt is exposed annually to high temperatures and high humidity during this time of the year.

Fahim pointed out that it plays a role in attracting tropical monsoon winds to India and Southeast Asia, and causes a rise in temperature in Saudi Arabia, the Levant, Iraq, and Egypt.
