On Sunday, Egypt sent three military planes loaded with medical aid to India to help the virus-hit country fight against Coronavirus pandemic.
Upon directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the General Command of the Armed Forces issued orders to send the three planes within the framework of continued Egyptian support and solidarity with friendly and brotherly countries in various crises and adversities.
“The three planes are loaded with large quantities of medical aid in the form of medicines and medical supplies provided by the Ministry of Health and Population to India,” the Egyptian presidency and Armed Forces said in a statement.
In the same page, Indian defence ministry said the country will recruit hundreds of former army medics to support its overwhelmed healthcare system. The ministry added that the country struggles with record COVID-19 infections and deaths amid angry calls for a complete nationwide lockdown.
India's health ministry reported 4,092 fatalities over the past 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 242,362. New cases rose by 403,738.
