Egypt has dispatched urgent shelter and humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip to support thousands of Palestinians affected by a recent severe weather system, as part of the ongoing Egyptian aid initiative known as the “Zad Al-Ezza” convoys.
According to Al Qahera News, 100th Egyptian aid convoy to Gaza departed from the forecourt of the Rafah land crossing on the Egyptian side, carrying large quantities of relief and humanitarian supplies bound for the besieged enclave.
The aid trucks traveled through the Al-Awja and Kerem Shalom crossings. At Al-Awja, the trucks undergo inspection and security checks by Israeli occupation authorities before proceeding to Kerem Shalom, where the humanitarian cargo is unloaded and transferred into Gaza.
Moreover, the convoy includes hundreds of trucks loaded with thousands of tons of aid, comprising food supplies, medical equipment, and various relief items. Fuel shipments were also among the leading trucks crossing from Egyptian territory into the Palestinian side, amid critical shortages in Gaza.
The convoy places a particular emphasis on shelter materials, including tents, blankets, winter clothing, mattresses, and other essential items.
This comes in response to the extensive damage inflicted on displacement camps across Gaza following last week’s intense low-pressure weather system and heavy rainfall, which reportedly damaged or flooded more than 90 percent of tents, further worsening the already dire humanitarian situation.
It's worth noting that the aid trucks continue to flow from Egypt into Gaza, highlighting the pivotal role played by the Egyptian Red Crescent in coordinating the delivery process.
