The Egyptian Eastern Company announced that it will raise the prices of local cigarettes, starting, Sunday, in implementation of the provisions of the value-added tax (VAT) and the Comprehensive Health Insurance System Law.
The company set the price of (Box 10) at 24.5 pounds, and of Cleopatra Box, Mondial, and Matossian Super at 34.5 pounds.
It also hicked Viceroy/Palmall and Cleo to 55 pounds.
A few days ago, the Egyptian Tax Authority approved an increase in the price brackets for cigarettes by 12%, in light of amendments to the value-added tax law for cigarettes.
