Egypt has announced a new mandate for all foreigners within its borders, excluding those holding residence permits, to register their information at the General Directorate of Passports, Immigration, and Nationality to obtain valid identification cards.
This directive, effective from January 1st, 2024, is part of the country's digital transformation initiative aimed at facilitating foreigners' interactions with various state institutions through issued residence cards, ensuring their access to all state-provided services.
Authorities have emphasized that, following a six-month grace period, state institutions will no longer engage with foreigners lacking residence cards, underscoring the importance of compliance with this new regulation to maintain access to state services and facilities.
