The Egyptians woke up on the first day of the new year to a new increase in Electricity prices.
The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy approved on Tuesday a new increase in electricity prices, starting from January, at rates ranging from 7% and 20%, according to the amount of consumption.
This increase affects households and businesses. The price of the kilowatt will reach 58 piasters instead of 48 for the least electricity segment (zero to 50 kilowatt), while the price for the most consuming segment reaches 1.65 pounds instead of 1.45 pounds per kilowatt (more than 1,000 kilowatt).
