On Tuesday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Qatari counterpart Mohamed Abdelrahman held discussions focused on efforts to secure the release of detainees held in Gaza and to ensure the urgent and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Abdelatty also reviewed the arrangements for Egypt’s hosting of the Early Recovery and Reconstruction Conference for Gaza, to be held immediately after a ceasefire agreement is reached, in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations, the statement added.
The talks come amid escalating violence in the Gaza Strip, where the death toll from Israeli airstrikes has risen to 22 since dawn on Monday.
The situation underscores mounting regional and international concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and ongoing hostilities that continue to claim civilian lives.
Both Egypt and Qatar have played key mediation roles in previous ceasefire efforts between Israel and Palestinian factions, with diplomatic efforts intensifying as the humanitarian situation in Gaza deteriorates and calls for a truce grow louder from the international community.
