Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has activated multiple pre-emptive scenarios to ensure uninterrupted natural gas supplies to the domestic market, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi said on Saturday.
Badawi inspected the National Gas Grid Control Center (NATA) at the headquarters of Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO), reviewing implementation of a comprehensive plan aimed at safeguarding gas flows to key sectors of the local economy.
The minister said the system is fully prepared to execute contingency measures designed in advance to address potential disruptions, adding that the ministry has developed an integrated framework to respond swiftly to evolving conditions.
Badawi noted that steps taken in recent months to enhance operational readiness, diversify gas supply sources and upgrade infrastructure for receiving natural gas have significantly strengthened the resilience of Egypt’s energy network.
He added that alternative supply options and secured capacity arrangements have improved the system’s efficiency and reinforced its ability to manage emergency scenarios, ensuring that domestic demand is met in a sustainable manner.
