Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, held a phone call with Hussein al-Sheikh, Palestinian Vice President.
The discussion focused on following up on the outcomes of their recent meeting in Cairo and exploring ways to transition to the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan.
During the call, FM reaffirmed Egypt's full support for the Palestinian Authority (PA) as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
Moreover, he emphasized the importance of empowering the PA to fulfill its responsibilities across the Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Abdelatty referred to UN Security Council Resolution 2803 as a supportive framework for the transitional phase.
He underscored Egypt's support for the deployment of an international stability force and the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to help create the necessary environment for restoring the PA's role and preserving the territorial integrity of Palestine.
FM also condemned the repeated violations occurring in the West Bank, including attacks on Palestinian civilians, incursions, and settlement expansion, noting that such actions undermine de-escalation efforts and the political process.
For his part, Palestinian Vice President praised Egypt's pivotal role and the ongoing coordination with Cairo.
He also praised Egypt's continuous support for the Palestinian Authority and its national endeavors.
Al-Sheikh emphasized the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
