Egypt, India Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in Digital Transformation

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology discussed with Shri Ashwini, Federal Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and India in the field of communications and IT.

This comes within the framework of Talaat's visit to India to participate in the ministerial meeting on the digital economy, which is part of the G20 work.

The meeting dealt with ways to activate the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed between the two countries last January. 

Also, the two minister discussed mechanisms for enhancing joint cooperation in the fields of electronics manufacturing and building digital capabilities by strengthening cooperation between the training institutions of the two ministries, as well as enhancing cooperation in the field of digital infrastructure that supports the digital transformation process, which includes digital payments.

During the meeting, Talaat expressed the Egyptian government's appreciation for the Indian government's invitation to attend the G20 meetings during India's presidency of the group, which reflects the depth of the strategic relations between Egypt and India. He pointed out that the past months witnessed the expansion of a number of Indian companies in their work in the Egyptian telecommunications and information technology sector.

On his part; Ashwini praised the remarkable development in the bilateral relations between Egypt and India in the field of communications and information technology.

At the end of the meeting, Talaat invited the Indian Minister to visit Egypt to review the Egyptian telecommunications and IT sector and to complement the talks held between the two sides.

Talaat also held a meeting with the managing and executive directors of the Indian company TEJAS, a pioneer in the field of telecommunications and manufacturing communications devices and equipment.

The meeting witnessed a review of the company's future plans and discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of electronics industry. They also discussed the possibility of the company's cooperation with academic entities affiliated with the Ministry in the field of technical training and capacity building related to the installation, operation and support of communications networks.
