On Thursday, the maritime demarcation deal signed between Egypt and Greece on August 6, was posted on the United Nations (UN) Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea.

The publishing of the deal by the UN is a “diplomatic success.”, according to a Greek newspaper.

The newspaper added that this move came as a result of a long effort by Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who is in regular contact with the Secretary-General of the UN, Antonio Guterres.

This is also the first deal to be published on the delimitation of maritime zones between Greece and a neighboring country in four decades.

It is worth mentioning, Egypt and Greece have signed an agreement on setting up an exclusive economic zone between the two countries.

The agreement aims to enable Egypt and Greece to maximize the benefit from the great natural resources in the exclusive economic zone of both countries.
