Egypt Engages Visually Impaired into Stock Exchange through Braille System

Mohamed Farid, head of the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) announced the start of converting all print contracts and documents on the stock exchange into Braille system.

Farid, accompanied by Minister of Solidarity, Minister of Social Solidarity Nevin Al-Kabbaj inaugurated on Sunday the first session with the Braille system, where a visual impairment investor traded on the stock exchange.

The move comes to integrate persons with disabilities within economic activity through the stock market.

Farid explained that the coming period will witness coordinating efforts with brokerage companies to motivate and qualify them to meet the needs of people with disabilities, which will help invest and benefit from the stock market.

On his part, Ehab Rashad, Vice Chairman of Mubasher Capital Holding, the company that opened an account for the first visually impaired investor in the stock exchange, said that this step confirms that trading in the stock market is not restricted to anyone, and is not limited to specific categories.

He stressed that the Braille method has been relied on, as well as audio technologies and programs that enable and help visual impairment investors to trade and integrate in the market through the stock market.
