Egypt has strongly condemned the launch of Israel’s military operation in Gaza City, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. Cairo stressed that the move reflects Israel’s insistence on reckless policies that carry severe consequences for the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the wider region.
In its statement, Egypt warned of the catastrophic risks of continued Israeli military actions, saying the region now stands on the brink of a new phase of widespread chaos. The escalation, according to Egypt, will inevitably harm the interests of all regional and international actors without exception, as Israel continues what it called “a reckless and arrogant course of action.”
Egypt held the international community accountable for failing to act decisively in the face of ongoing crimes and mass killings, stressing that key global players share responsibility for the current dire state of affairs. Cairo urged immediate steps to end the war in Gaza, protect civilian lives, and uphold human rights and the rule of law.
Highlighting the scale of devastation, Egypt pointed out that Israel’s military campaign has already killed nearly 65,000 Palestinians, wounded hundreds of thousands, and destroyed much of Gaza’s infrastructure.
The statement further underlined the grave humanitarian consequences of Israel’s actions, particularly as the population of Gaza remains under blockade and faces famine-like conditions. Egypt denounced the mass displacement and mistreatment of Palestinian civilians accompanying the operation, calling for urgent international intervention to halt the war and avert further disaster.
