Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, through its Central Department for Tourism Companies, has successfully completed the technical inspection of approximately 14,000 tourist vehicles across several key governorates by the end of August.
This extensive effort was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, covering Cairo, South Sinai, the Red Sea, Alexandria, Luxor, and Aswan, as part of the annual license renewal process for these vehicles.
Under the directives of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Sherif Fathy, the ministry has emphasized its regulatory and supervisory role, aiming to enhance the quality of services provided to both local and international tourists. Ensuring the safety standards of tourist transport vehicles is a key priority, as the tourism transport sector is a fundamental pillar of the country’s tourism infrastructure.
Ms. Samia Sami, Head of the Central Department for Tourism Companies at the ministry, highlighted that the inspections are focused on verifying that all tourist vehicles meet the highest safety and quality standards. This initiative is crucial for preventing accidents, safeguarding tourists, and improving their overall experience, thereby positioning Egypt as a safer and more attractive global tourist destination.
The technical inspections are carried out by specialized engineers who assess the condition and suitability of each vehicle for use in the tourism sector. The inspection teams are scheduled to continue their work regularly until all tourist vehicles across the country have been thoroughly examined.
This rigorous inspection process reflects Egypt’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards in the tourism industry, ensuring that the vehicles used to transport tourists are reliable and well-maintained. This is particularly important as Egypt continues to attract millions of visitors each year, with tourism being a significant contributor to the national economy.
