Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, received a telephone call on Saturday from Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The two ministers discussed ways to advance and strengthen bilateral relations across political and economic fields in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly nations, in addition to reviewing developments in the Middle East.
Ambassador Tameem Khalaf, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that both ministers expressed satisfaction with the notable progress witnessed recently in Egyptian–Pakistani relations. They reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying efforts to expand cooperation in all areas, reflecting the historic ties and shared interests that unite the two nations.
The call also covered the evolving situation in the Middle East, particularly the crisis in Gaza. Dr. Abdelatty underscored the importance of fully implementing the first phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement, stressing that all parties must adhere to their commitments in order to move to the agreement’s second phase. He highlighted the crucial need for faithful execution of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan, which serves as the foundation for the current peace efforts.
The ministers also discussed ongoing consultations on the draft UN Security Council resolution addressing the situation in Gaza and future security arrangements.
Both sides stressed that the resolution must contribute effectively to consolidating the end of the war and creating conditions conducive to a just and comprehensive peace that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.A
bdelatty also briefed his Pakistani counterpart on Egypt’s preparations to host the International Conference on Early Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development in Gaza, in cooperation with international partners. He extended an invitation to Pakistan to take part actively in the conference, emphasizing the importance of collective international efforts to rebuild Gaza and reinforce regional stability.
