Egypt: 1.3 % increase of Total crop area

Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics issued an Annual bulletin of crop area and plant production statistics in 2021 / 2022.

The most important indicators: Total crop area reached 16.6 million feddan in 2021/2022, versus 16.4 million feddan in 2020 /2021, an increase of 1.3%. The total cultivated area reached 9.7 million. feddan in 2021/2022, versus 9.6 million feddan in 2020/2021, an increase of 0.6 %.

The total area of wheat crop reached 3.418 million. feddan in 2021/ 2022, versus 3.419 million feddan in 2020/2021, a decrease of 0.02%, while the amount of wheat production reached 9.6 million. tons in 2021 / 2022, versus 9.8 million tons in 2020/2021, a decrease of 2.2 %.

The total area of rice crop reached 1.2 million feddan in 2021/ 2022, versus 1.1 million feddan in 2020/2021, an increase of 4.0%, while the amount of rice crop production reached 4.3 million tons in 2021 / 2022, versus 4.2 million tons in 2020/2021, an increase by 1.4%.

The total area of Tomato crops reached 375.3 thousand. feddan in 2021 / 2022, versus 356.9 thousand feddan.  in 2020 / 2021, an increase of 5.2%, while the amount of Tomato crop Production reached 6.37 million tons.  in 2021 / 2022, Versus 6.39 million tons in 2020/2021,  a decrease by 0.3% due to the decrease in productivity of Tomato crop.

The total area of potato crop reached 584.8 thousand feddans in 2021 / 2022, versus 502.6 thousand feddan in 2020/2021, an increase by 16.4%, while the amount of potato crop production reached 7.2 million tons in 2021 / 2022, versus 6.3 million tons in 2020/2021, an increase by 14.9 %.

 Oranges total area reached 344.9 thousand feddan in 2021 /2022, versus 329.7 thousand feddan in 2020/2021, an increase by 4.6%, while the amount of oranges crop production reached 3.16 million tons in 2021 / 2022, versus 3.17 million tons in 2020/2021, a decrease by 0.4% due to decrease in Orange productivity.

Banana Total area reached 77.8 thousand feddan in 2021 /2022, versus 73.9 thousand feddan in 2020/2021, an increase of 5.4%, while the amount of Banana crop production reached 1.21 million tons in 2021 / 2022 , versus 1.18 million tons in 2020/2021, an increase by 2.3 %.
