The Ministry of Civil Aviation is preparing to start the development work for the expansion of the terminal building at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport.
The work will begin during the next few days. It will increase the airport's capacity from 7 million passengers to 9 million passengers annually.
It is a part of the development plan being implemented by the ministry to increase the efficiency of Egyptian airports.
A delegation from the Ministry of Civil Aviation inspected the latest developments related to the development work, the security system inside and outside the airport. It also inspected the external fences and modern surveillance camera systems.
The delegation also checked out the flow of travel and access inside the airport to ensure regular operation, especially in light of the intensity the airport currently witnesses.
The delegation also inspected the airstrip and all the aircraft sites and the terminals.
They briefed on the results of the development plan implemented at the airport. They also checked out the latest developments related to the expansion of passenger terminal No. 2. It is scheduled to be opened during the coming period to increase the total capacity of the airport from 7 millions of passengers to 9 million annually.
The delegation urged the need for speed and commitment to complete the development of the airport according to schedule.
