Deputy Foreign Minister (FM) Mahmoud Abbas received on Saturday the bodies of Egyptian victims, who lost their lives as a result of the Cyprus wildfire this week, at Cairo International airport.
Abbas was accompanied by MP Ehab Ramzy and Cypriot Ambassador to Egypt.
On his part, the Deputy FM offered his condolences to families of Egyptian victims, hailing the efforts made by the Cypriot authorities and their close cooperation with the Egyptian authorities to end all procedures related to the incident.
It is worth mentioning that, Cyprus decided to pay compensation to the families of the Egyptian victims, the Cypriot Interior Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The cabinet has approved a budget of 5.2 million euros ( 6.1 million dollars), to compensate those who lost their homes and businesses in the fire, including the families of the four Egyptian workers, whose ages ranged between 24 and 36 years.
One of these workers was a father of three, while another victim had four children.
Cypriot Interior Minister Nikos Norris offered his condolences to the families of the victims, affirming that each family will receive 95,000 euros and an additional 30,000 euros for each child.
