Culture Min. Regains El-Jazzar's Painting Lost Half –Century Ago

The Ministry of Culture succeeded in regaining the painting “Inspired by The Red Sea Minarets” for the international Egyptian artist Abdel Hadi El-Gazzar, which has been lost since the issuance of permission of the building of the Ministry of Culture 1971in Garden City.

The details:-

After hearing the news about the sale of a painting by the artist Abdel Hadi Al-Jazzar, the Plastic Arts Sector -headed by Dr. Khaled Sorour- issued a warning statement against dealing with this painting as one of the holdings of the Egyptian state that represents an integral part of the Egyptian cultural and heritage identity -and the Egyptian plastic movement.

After publishing this statement, the owner of the painting contacted with Mrs. Fayrouz Al-Jazzar, the daughter of Abdel-Hadi Al-Jazzar, expressing his desire to deliver the painting to the Ministry of Culture. Immediately, the artist, Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem, the Minister of Culture, formed an artistic committee to examine the painting and verify its originality and belonging to Abdel-Hadi Al-Jazzar.

After examining the painting by modern technological examination devices, it was found that the work is

original and it dates back to 1964 and it was lost in 1971.

When the Minister of Culture received the painting - in the presence of Mrs. Fairouz Al-Jazzar , Dr. Khaled Sorour, Head of the Plastic Arts Sector and Mr. Ahmed Abdel Fattah, Head of the Central Administration of Museums, she decided to place the painting in the Modern Art Museum to be an addition to its valuable holdings.

She thanked Mrs. Fairouz Al-Jazzar for her insistence that the painting should be returned to the Ministry of Culture and to be available to the public in Egypt and the world, as well as , she praised the heirs of Mohamed Abdel-Malik Contracting company for their quick initiative to hand the painting over to its owners- as soon as they became aware of it and did not neglect one of the treasures of Egyptian culture.

Then, The Ministry of Culture dedicated them the shield of the Ministry of Culture for preserving the painting all this time.

She emphasized that one of the axes of the ministry's work strategy is to preserve Egypt holdings and the element of the Egyptian identity, as well as work to regain the lost treasures of Egypt at home and abroad.

She praised the desire of the owner of the painting to hand it over to the Ministry of Culture.
