Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, delivered the certificates of the ninth batch of "Beit Jameel" Grant, organized by Cultural Development Fund headed by Dr. Fathi Abdel Wahab.
The event was held in cooperation with Prince Charles School in the Center of Traditional Crafts in Fustat.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Khaled Azzam, Professor of Egyptian Architecture, Director of Prince Charles School for Traditional Arts- London, Delfina Pozzini, Director of External Programs in the School and Eng. Mamdouh Sakr, director of Beit Rizk Jameel Program.
Abdel Dayem said that the traditional crafts are an important component of the Egyptian identity, stressing that the grant comes within the framework of preserving these crafts, implementing the axes of sustainable development plan.
She added that the traditional crafts are a source of pride for the nation and a proof for its originality, beauty and creativity.
She explained that the cooperation with international institutions, specialized in heritage artisan, aims to exchange experiences between the countries through the sectors that exert effort to empower the Egyptian characters.
Minister of Culture stressed the need to benefit from the Center and to market its products by opening new channels and markets with various countries of the world.
It is worthy of note that the minister has inaugurated an exhibition for the work of 22 graduates. They include Ahmed Fayez, Islam Mokhtar, Mustafa Abdel Majid, Iman Ramadan, Basma Fathi, Dalia Amr, Radwa Mahmoud, Salwa Ahmed, Abdul Rahman Abu Fadl, Marwa Hanafi, Norhan Yahya "wooden works" , Shawky Ismail, Shahira Kamel, Noha El Sayed, Hind Issa "Metal Works", Asmaa Mamdouh, Sumaya El Said, Suzan Maher, Mostafa Abdel Aaty, Rana El Tahawy, Nada Amer and Wafa Hashem "Ceramics".
She also inspected the section of the center, which included ornaments, stained glass, seashells, copper, woodcarving, calligraphy, carpentry, khaiameya, fashion, paints and porcelain.
It is worth mentioning that the diploma aims at producing designers studying artistic crafts and it continues for two academic years. It includes the fields of drawing skills, free perspective, free drawing, color studies, gypsum and stained glass, porcelain, metal, copper discharge.
In the same context, Prince Charles School is one of the international institutions dealing with traditional crafts and heritage arts; it includes professors of design and heritage arts of different nationalities.
