Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has characterized Israel's actions in Gaza as nothing short of terrorism, labeling them as an affront to humanity as a whole.

He made these remarks on the social media platform "X."

"The genocidal acts committed by the terrorist state of Israel in Gaza are an insult to humanity at large. How long will they go unpunished, and how long will there be complete impunity for killing? Cuba, which will never be indifferent, raises its voice repeatedly in defense of Palestine," Díaz-Canel said.

It's worth noting that on October 7th of last year, a conflict erupted between Israel and the Hamas movement, which controls the Gaza Strip, following attacks carried out by Hamas on areas and towns within the Gaza envelope.

These attacks resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the abduction of around 240 by the Palestinian movement, who were then transported to Gaza, according to Israeli authorities.

In response, Israel launched continuous airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of around 20,000 people, mostly women and children, according to health authorities in the region.

The infrastructure of the Gaza Strip was also destroyed, and it was placed under a complete blockade.

The Israeli army announced the resumption of military operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip on December 1st of this year following the interception of a rocket launched from the Gaza Strip.

Israel considered it a violation of the temporary humanitarian ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in the area.

Hamas has held the international community, particularly the United States, responsible for the continuation of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The ceasefire announced between Israel and Palestinian armed factions, which lasted for seven days, ended on Friday, December 1st, with the release of hundreds of detainees and prisoners by both sides.
