It has been reported that an Egyptian club is interested in signing Tunisia midfielder Ferjani Sassi as the player still hasn’t reached an agreement with Zamalek regarding the extension of his contract.

Sassi contract ends this season and despite him and the club denying these rumours, several reports suggested that he could leave with Qatari club Al Duhail being the most probable destination.

However, the hypothesis seems to have faded away as the Qatari club have used all their foreign players’ slots in the team’s squad.

The drama has continued as Zamalek TV presenter Khaled El-Ghandour stated that the Whites received a verbal offer from an undisclosed Egyptian club for Sassi.

However, Zamalek have categorically refused the possibility with the club management confirming they will present an adequate offer for Sassi to renew his deal.

Many reports believe that the club is probably Pyramids FC as they want to strengthen their squad after their poor start to the season.

Sassi has been a central pillar of Zamalek’s success in recent years after guiding the Whites to winning multiple trophies, including CAF Confederation Cup and Egypt Cup, since his arrival from Saudi Professional League side Al Nassr.

The 28-year-old has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 77 games for the Whites.

He featured just twice this season for Zamalek, with his last game coming back in December 17 and was left out of the club’s squad for their past three games.
