On Monday, a small plane crashed Monday in a neighborhood of the city of Medellin in central Colombia, killing eight people on board, according to airport authorities.
There were no immediate reports of injuries on the ground.
The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Medellin Mayor Daniel Quintero said in a statement that the plane experienced an "engine failure" during takeoff.
Colombian aviation officials said in a statement that the plane crashed after taking off from the Olaya Herrera Airport.
The victims were identified as six passengers and two crew members. It was not immediately clear if more than eight people were on the plane.

The plane, a twin-engine Piper PA-31, was heading to the western region of Chocó.
