Chris Pratt has recently joined the comedy movie "The Black Belt", which he will produce through his Inpisible Productions label.
The "Black Belt" is a coming-of-age story centering around a shy, teen boy on a quest for expertise in karate, and the unorthodox uncle who guides him along the way.
The movie is written by Randall Green.
Pratt will produce with his producing partner Jon Schumacher, and Monarch Media principals Steve Barnett and Alan Powell.
UTA Independent Film Group will oversee film distribution.
Pratt is currently developing Saigon Bodyguards there, which reunites him with his Avengers collaborators, Joe and Anthony Russo, and Chinese movie star, Wu Jing.
The film is written by Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck.
Anthony and Joe Russo, who worked with Pratt on “Avengers: End Game” and with Jing on “Wolf Warrior 2”, will produce the film, alongside him through his Inpisible Productions and Mike Larocca via AGBO.
The plot follows two bodyguards who must locate a high-profile heir that was kidnapped on their watch.
Pratt also recently joined the cast of Marvel’s “Thor: Love and Thunder”, which is set to be released in February 2022.
Pratt is set to reprise his role as Star-Lord, who is also known as Peter Quill, in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star is joining a lineup that includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who will actually become Thor in this sequel, and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, as well as Christian Bale, who is set to play the villain in the upcoming Marvel film.
“Thor: Love and Thunder”, the fourth “Thor” film, is set to begin production in Australia in January.
It is directed by Taika Waititi and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote the script with Waititi. The Oscar-winning director is also set to voice the boulder-bodied Kronan warrior, Korg, in the latest installment.
