The Middle East Consumer Electronics Show 2025 opened on Wednesday at Dubai Festival Arena, highlighting China’s expanding role in supplying smart and sustainable technologies to a rapidly growing regional market, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Held under the theme AI for All and co-organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Commercial Sub-Council, the event has drawn buyers and industry leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other Middle Eastern markets.
About 300 Chinese companies are exhibiting, from major home appliance manufacturers such as Haier, Hisense and Midea to innovative small and medium-sized enterprises focused on smart home technologies. Exhibitors are showcasing AI-powered home ecosystems, energy-efficient appliances, advanced 5G applications and new energy solutions.
Hisense unveiled two flagship appliances: a high-definition “pure view” refrigerator and a next-generation washer-dryer designed to handle multiple fabric types simultaneously. Both integrate with the company’s AI smart home platform, reflecting the industry’s broader shift toward seamless, high-efficiency living environments.
Visitors crowded Hisense’s smart living pavilion, which features zones dedicated to cinema-grade televisions, gaming displays, smart kitchen solutions and the company’s design-focused Canvas TV series.
“Through our participation at MECES 2025, we are demonstrating how Hisense’s innovations are shaping the future of smart living,” Jason Ou, president of Hisense Middle East and Africa, said.
Parenting-products manufacturer Goodbaby Child Products Co. debuted a smart child safety seat with vehicle integration, voice-activated adjustments, ventilation features and enhanced protective systems.
“With high birth rates, larger households and strong demand for premium maternal and child products, the Middle East is a key market,” said Zhan Xueling, the company’s general manager of cross-border e-commerce.
She noted strong distributor interest in lightweight strollers, carbon-fiber models and intelligent safety seats, adding that the company will work closely with Gulf retail partners to expand brand recognition.
Fahad Al Gergawi, undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade, said MECES demonstrates the region’s accelerating appetite for advanced consumer electronics.
China maintained its position as the UAE’s top non-oil trade partner in 2024, with bilateral non-oil trade reaching 90.1 billion US dollars, a four percent increase from 2023 and equivalent to 11 percent of the UAE’s total non-oil trade.
Al Gergawi said demand is rising as a young, tech-savvy population seeks smarter and more sustainable consumer products, noting that China has become a central partner in meeting that demand.
Over the past five years, trade in mechanical and electrical goods between China and the UAE has doubled, driven by strong growth in automobiles, consumer electronics and home appliances, according to Chinese Consul General in Dubai Ou Boqian.
